DDEV v1.24.3 Released to Fix Mutagen Compatibility Issue with Docker 28

DDEV has released version 1.24.3 ahead of schedule to resolve a critical compatibility issue between Mutagen and Docker Engine version 28.0.0. Logan Hornbuckle initially reported the issue after a Colima update, which caused a fatal error that broke DDEV’s Mutagen support. Upon investigation, the DDEV team discovered that a previous workaround in Mutagen became obsolete due to a recent fix in Docker. Jacob Howard, the maintainer of Mutagen, quickly diagnosed and addressed the issue, releasing an update within a day.

DDEV rolled out this preemptive update to prevent disruption, particularly urging macOS and traditional Windows users to upgrade. Randy Fay, writing on behalf of DDEV, acknowledged the contributions of Hornbuckle, Howard, and the open-source community for their swift response. He also credited Docker, Inc., for maintaining the infrastructure supporting various Docker providers. The release highlights the importance of open-source collaboration in resolving critical software issues efficiently.
