acolono Releases NanoBanana Modules for AI-Powered Media Editing in Drupal

acolono GmbH has released two new modules, AI Provider: NanoBanana and NanoBanana Editor, that integrate Google’s Gemini image models into Drupal, offering an in-CMS experience for AI-generated media creation and editing.

The AI Provider: NanoBanana module connects Gemini’s image models to the Drupal AI ecosystem, supporting both Gemini 2.5 Flash and Gemini 3 Pro. Users can generate images from text, transform existing media, and create complex compositions by blending up to 14 reference images. The provider includes options for aspect ratio control, image resolution up to 4K, and built-in integration with the AI API Explorer for rapid iteration.

The companion NanoBanana Editor module offers a proof-of-concept UI for in-context media generation and editing directly from Drupal’s Media forms. Editors can generate new assets or edit existing images by describing prompts, selecting models, and applying reusable style presets. The sidebar-based interface includes live previews, thumbnail handling, and image output customization, bringing a modern creative workflow into Drupal’s backend.

Both modules created by Nico Grienauer require Drupal 10.3 or higher, the AI module, and a Google Gemini API key stored via the Key module. While the tools are currently marked as beta and are not covered by Drupal’s security advisory policy, they demonstrate a robust foundation for AI-assisted content workflows. Nico Grienauer and acolono GmbH, the supporting organization, encourage site builders and media teams to explore and provide feedback as development continues.
