Potencier is best known as the creator of the Symfony framework and founder of Blackfire.io, the performance monitoring tool acquired by Platform.sh in 2021. Since joining the company, he has held senior roles in product and developer advocacy.

Tournoud, who co-founded Platform.sh in 2015 with Frédéric Plais and Ori Pekelman, played a key role in shaping the company’s infrastructure-as-code approach and scaling it into a platform now used by more than 7,000 organisations and 17,000 developers globally. Platform.sh reports annual recurring revenue of €50 million and a 300-person team worldwide.

“After fifteen incredible years, it’s time for me to pass the torch,” said Tournoud. “With Fabien’s leadership and deep understanding of our platform, I know the company is in good hands.”

Potencier called it “an honor” to carry forward the technical vision Tournoud helped establish:

“Damien built something uniquely powerful and developer-focused. I’m committed to pushing that legacy forward.”

Platform.sh positions itself as a secure, unified cloud platform focused on reducing infrastructure complexity for enterprise teams. As CTO, Potencier will lead technical strategy, long-term innovation, and developer experience.
