Norwich City Council Launches Redesigned Website Built on LocalGov Drupal
Norwich City Council, the local authority serving residents in Norwich, England, has launched the final phase of its redesigned public website. The upgrade completes a broader digital overhaul shaped by feedback from residents, staff, and partners to improve usability, structure, and accessibility.
The new website delivers a cleaner layout, clearer navigation, and better performance across devices. The redesign involved extensive content updates, interface refinement, and accessibility testing to ensure compliance with modern standards and a more consistent experience for users.
The update was announced by Julia M, Head of Customers, IT and Digital at Norwich City Council, who credited project manager Jason Kittle for coordinating work across departments and maintaining engagement with internal stakeholders.
The site was developed using LocalGov Drupal, an open-source distribution tailored to UK local government needs, in collaboration with Agile Collective. The project highlights a growing trend in shared digital infrastructure aimed at long-term sustainability and interoperability across public services.
User experience improvements include reorganized service content, simplified site structure, and fully responsive design. The redesign shows how open-source platforms and collaborative workflows can support more inclusive and efficient government digital services.
