Palantir.net Implements Practical AI Usage Policy
Palantir.net has published an internal case study outlining its approach to building a generative AI usage policy based on practical experience and workplace needs.
Written by George DeMet, the article details how the company formed a cross-functional AI Policy Working Group to develop guidelines addressing tool approval, data privacy, human oversight, and client transparency. The policy emerged from structured interviews across departments and identified key themes including human accountability, strict data security requirements, consistent client communication, and actionable usage protocols. Each policy area was assigned to relevant teams for implementation and oversight.
The working group maintained transparency throughout the drafting process and used AI tools selectively to support development efforts. After releasing a draft in December 2024, Palantir.net formally adopted the policy in January. Since implementation, the company has launched internal tools like a content auditing system and the Onyx platform, with AI tools such as Gemini and Copilot assisting in research and development workflows. The policy emphasizes that AI tools are supplementary and that final responsibility remains with human team members.
