amazee.io, Official Sponsor of DrupalCon Vienna 2025, Showcases Open Source Commitment, Private AI, and Expert Sessions
Cloud-native hosting company amazee.io is joining DrupalCon Vienna 2025 as the event's official sponsor, further strengthening its long-standing relationship with the open source Drupal community. The event, taking place from October 14 to 17, 2025, at the Austria Center Vienna, will bring together developers, strategists, and contributors from across Europe and beyond.
For amazee.io, sponsoring the event reflects a broader commitment. According to the company, this sponsorship is about more than visibility; it's about giving back to a community that has significantly shaped its technology and internal culture.
"Sponsoring DrupalCon Vienna is our way of giving back to a community that has helped shape not only our technology but also our entire company ethos, in terms of collaboration and transparency," the team shared. "Coupled with that, it is always a fantastic opportunity for us to connect and collaborate with our colleagues and friends within the Drupal community."
Booth #9: Conversations Around Infrastructure and AI
During the conference, amazee.io will be present at Booth #9 in the Exhibition Hall, where team members will engage with attendees on topics ranging from performance-focused Drupal hosting to new developments in private AI for content management systems.
Michael Schmid, Founder and General Manager, outlined amazee.io's priorities for the event:
"At amazee.io, we've always been deeply rooted in the open source community, and Drupal has been at the heart of that story from the outset. This year, we're looking forward to connecting with developers, agencies, and enterprises who are looking to evolve their digital platforms with modern, cloud-native infrastructure. Drupal continues to play a key role in the digital experience, and we see huge potential in combining that with open, scalable, and privacy-first AI."
Beyond product demonstrations, the team intends to use the booth as a space for idea exchange and collaboration. Michael noted their focus is not just on showing what amazee.io has built, but on listening and learning from the community as well.
He added that they hope to share insights about running Drupal at scale and how their newly developed open source private AI infrastructure can support teams that are navigating increasingly complex digital environments.
When asked about the booth's main takeaway for visitors, the company emphasized practical outcomes:
"Our main goal at the booth is to show how organizations can maximise the value of Drupal with the right tools and infrastructure. Our managed web hosting ensures sites run securely, reliably, and at scale. In addition, our open source private AI solutions and infrastructure give organisations the chance to explore AI while maintaining full control over their data."
The company's messaging consistently links its offerings to the wider values of the open source ecosystem-particularly around user control, transparency, and long-term maintainability.
Speakers from amazee.io: Sessions Focused on Practical AI and Community Growth
In addition to their booth presence, amazee.io team members will lead several sessions and demos throughout the conference, with a focus on AI applications, infrastructure, and community marketing.
Michael Schmid - "Epic Things You Built with Drupal AI"
Time: Tuesday, October 14 | 10:00-10:45 Location: Exhibition Hall - Open Stage
Michael Schmid will present a 45-minute session exploring how AI is currently being used within Drupal-based projects. Rather than abstract concepts, the session will focus on practical case studies.
"If you've ever wondered how AI is really being put to work, join me for a deep dive into a hand-picked showcase of Drupal AI projects in action. We'll move past the buzzwords and explore exactly how these solutions were built - from technical architecture and tooling choices to the real-world hurdles and wins along the way. Whether you're a developer, architect, or digital strategist, you'll leave with fresh ideas and practical takeaways for your own projects."
In a conversation about what attendees can expect to take away, Michael said he plans to demonstrate how even simple AI integrations can enhance the Drupal experience by driving efficiencies and enabling automation.
He also reflected on the personal importance of these gatherings:
"I am mostly excited about meeting the European Drupal community. Every DrupalCon feels like a summer camp, where you see your friends again, catch up, share stories, and overall have a good time."
Dan Lemon - AI Demos at Booth #9
Dan Lemon, who leads AI strategy at amazee.io, will spend his time at Booth #9, providing live demos and explanations of the company's new Private AI Assistant, which is currently in beta.
"Our Private AI Assistant just launched in beta, enabling secure, private, and compliant AI-powered conversations with your documents. It's a very exciting time!
Our core focus is on solving the challenge of data privacy. We'll demonstrate how Drupal sites can leverage AI in minutes, without the typical privacy trade-offs that other providers are known for."
In addition to demos, Dan shared what he's personally anticipating at the event:
"I'm most looking forward to connecting with the community itself. It truly is the heart of DrupalCon."
He also highlighted the Network of European Drupal Associations (NEDA) booth as a special stop.
"A highlight for me will be the Network of European Drupal Associations (NEDA) booth. We'll be hosting daily quizzes for attendees. The prizes will include snacks from various European countries. I'm happy to contribute some Swiss chocolates to the prize pool."
Like many attendees, Dan is also looking forward to the keynote by Drupal founder Dries Buytaert and the opportunity to experience the local culture:
"After the conference, I look forward to sampling authentic Austrian cuisine. I'm definitely going to track down a proper, fluffy Kaiserschmarrn and, of course, a great Wiener Schnitzel!"
Matthew Saunders - "Scaling Drupal's Marketing to Match Its Innovation"
Time: Tuesday, October 14 | 16:00-16:45 Location: Session Room (-2.33)
Matthew Saunders, AI Ambassador at amazee.io, will moderate a session focused on bridging the gap between Drupal's technical innovation and how that innovation is communicated externally.
"Attendees should leave understanding that Drupal's greatest opportunity isn't just technical innovation, it's aligning storytelling, marketing, and community energy behind that innovation. The session should help them see that Drupal's next phase of growth depends on coordinated, values-driven marketing that matches the sophistication of the product itself."
His goal is to encourage the community to think more strategically about how Drupal is presented and understood by those outside it. Matthew hopes attendees will leave with three main takeaways: pride in Drupal's momentum, a sense of urgency to communicate it, and a belief that everyone can contribute to that effort.
"That marketing Drupal isn't someone else's job. Every agency, developer, and event organiser can contribute to consistent storytelling. That scaling marketing requires infrastructure. Shared assets, translation systems, success stories, and clear governance are as critical as code. That innovation and communication must evolve together. Drupal AI, Starshot, and other projects give us new narratives, but only if we learn to communicate them in accessible, outcome-focused ways."
In addition to his talk, Matthew will be hosting a live demo of AI-powered search for Drupal at the amazee.io booth.
He's also marking a personal milestone:
"This will be my 28th Drupalcon. Each one is special and affords me the opportunity to meet friends and make new ones. This year, I'll be heavily focused on working with people from the AI Strategic Initiative in person - which has become a central focus for me this year."
And, like any community insider, he hinted at a project quietly taking shape behind the scenes:
"I'm looking forward to the unveiling of a slightly secret community project we've been working on. SHHHHHH ?, you'll all know soon enough!"
Looking Ahead
As DrupalCon Vienna approaches, amazee.io is preparing to contribute not just through infrastructure demos or AI showcases, but by being part of the conversations shaping Drupal's future.
With a packed schedule of sessions, technical showcases, and community engagement, the company invites attendees to stop by Booth #9, sit in on their talks, and see how their approach to hosting and AI reflects the evolving needs of the Drupal ecosystem.
