Swiss Drupal AI Hackathon Highlights Experimental AI Integrations

Swiss Drupal AI Hackathon Showcases Innovation in Zürich

The Swiss Drupal AI Hackathon, held on September 11 at Liip Zürich, brought together over 20 Drupal and AI enthusiasts for a day of prototyping and open collaboration. Organized as part of Swiss AI Weeks, six teams showcased innovative ways to merge AI with Drupal’s ecosystem.

Highlights included a visual AI workflow engine developed by Jürgen Haas using the ECA module; a feature in the blökkli editor by Jan Hug and Christian Stocker that transforms PDFs into structured content; and a context-aware image description enhancement to the DXPR's AI Image Alt Text module by Unic. Another team presented AI-driven form filling through written and spoken input.

Backed by amazee.io, Amazee Labs, Liip, and Unic, the event offered mentorship and evaluation by a jury that included Lukas Fischer of NETNODE AG. The hackathon showcased the power of open-source experimentation in driving Drupal's future AI capabilities.
