Upgrade of Tovarna.org: Migrating to Drupal 11 for Enhanced Community Engagement
The community website for former users and inhabitants of the bicycle factory Rog, known as Tovarna.org, required a significant upgrade from its outdated Drupal 6 system. The need for modernization was driven by the desire to enhance user engagement and improve the overall functionality of the site. The project aimed to not only update the technology but also to preserve the existing content and community features that users valued.
The migration process to Drupal 11 is currently underway, focusing on retaining essential functionalities such as blogging and event publishing. These features are crucial for maintaining the community's connection and sharing of information. The new platform is designed to be more user-friendly and efficient, ensuring that users can easily access and contribute content.
In addition to the core functionalities, the new website will incorporate ActivityPub support, allowing it to serve as a portal into the Fediverse. This integration is expected to broaden the reach of the community and facilitate interactions with other platforms, enhancing the overall user experience. The project reflects a commitment to leveraging modern web technologies to foster community engagement.
