Proctor + Stevenson Unveil Headless Drupal Starter Site with Next.js Frontend
Proctor + Stevenson have launched a custom headless Drupal distribution intended to simplify enterprise adoption and improve the editorial experience. The new Starter Site features a decoupled architecture, a Next.js frontend, and preconfigured best practices to accelerate project delivery and usability.
The P+S Drupal Starter Site provides a production-ready Drupal backend with built-in content models, SEO tooling, and accessibility configurations. Designed as a modern solution for B2B platforms and large-scale sites, it addresses long-standing setup delays and the often-criticized admin interface.
Proctor + Stevenson report that the distribution includes a drag-and-drop page builder, built-in frontend previews, and admin UI improvements such as field groupings and visual indicators. The backend remains fully Drupal but is optimized for faster deployment and intuitive content management.
The frontend leverages Next.js to ensure high performance, SEO optimization, and scalability. By separating content from presentation, the architecture enables multi-channel publishing while maintaining a single content source.
Senior Front End Developer Sam Jones emphasized the aim to preserve Drupal’s flexibility while enhancing its usability for non-technical teams. The distribution is positioned to support rapid launch timelines without compromising on control or extensibility.
