The Drupal Association announced that the Drupal AI Initiative has reached a major funding milestone with the addition of ten new supporting organisations, known as “Makers.”
The new commitments bring total funding for the initiative to $175,000. Each maker contributes financial support and staff dedicated to advancing development, with at least 15 full-time staff now working on Drupal AI. This is the largest single wave of new makers since the initiative began.
The ten organisations joining as makers are an anonymous gold-level sponsor, Axelerant, Elevated Third, ImageX, Joshi Consultancy Services, Morpht, QED42, SeeD EM, Zivtech, and Zoocha. Their participation reflects growing recognition of Drupal’s role in shaping open-source AI tools for content management.
Funding will be invested in core AI module development, orchestration infrastructure, integration with tools such as retrieval-augmented generation and content automation, as well as in AI-driven page creation through the Experience Builder. It will also support governance, documentation, and best practices for the community.
Organisations that join as makers receive direct input into the Drupal AI roadmap, early access to new features, recognition across Drupal.org, and visibility within the community.
According to Dominic De Cooman, Funding Lead for the initiative, this support strengthens Drupal’s ability to deliver responsible and practical AI capabilities for global use.
