Drupal Skyline: New SDC Theme by Greg O’Toole in Development
Developer and designer Greg O’Toole has announced a new personal project: a custom component-based Drupal theme built using the Single Directory Components (SDC) methodology, Drupal Skyline. Created as a way to deepen his experience with Drupal CMS and modern frontend workflows, the theme emphasizes clean, maintainable development while showcasing several custom features.
The theme includes flexible article tag styling, allowing for easy integration with various design systems. It also features a custom SVG logo designed by Greg and a “Powered by Drupal in Chicago” footer that highlights local community pride ahead of DrupalCon Chicago 2026.
Greg’s project blends technical learning with a return to visual design, applying the latest component-based theming approaches to Drupal. He encourages others to explore the SDC approach and describes it as a significant shift in Drupal theming.
The theme will be available soon on Drupal.org.
