Drupal 11 Development Launch: Updates and Release Timeline Revealed
Drupal.org has made a significant announcement in a recent blog post, revealing that Drupal 11 is now open for development, while Drupal 10.3.x has been branched. Effective immediately, the Drupal 11.x branch is designated for constructing the next major version, Drupal 11, allowing for specific changes pertinent to major versions. These changes encompass updates to dependencies and requirements, as well as the removal of deprecated APIs and extensions.
Detailed information regarding permissible changes during the Drupal core release cycle can be found in the official documentation. As for the release timeline, Drupal 11 is slated to debut either during the week of June 17, the week of July 29, or the week of December 9, 2024, contingent upon the completion of beta requirements. Additionally, a 10.3.x branch has been established to facilitate work on the forthcoming minor version, with Drupal 10.3.0 scheduled for release during the week of June 17, 2024. To streamline issue management, it is advised that issues remain targeted at the 11.x branch and will be backported as deemed appropriate.
