Ricoh USA Upgrades Developer Program Platform to Drupal 11 with OPTASY
Ricoh USA has partnered with OPTASY to upgrade its Ricoh Developer Program (RiDP) website from Drupal 7 to Drupal 11, delivering a more secure, performant, and sustainable mission-critical platform while preserving the trusted user experience.
The migration supports Ricoh’s goal of long-term platform sustainability, enhanced security compliance with PHP 8+, and a more intuitive editorial workflow. RiDP serves Independent Software Vendors (ISVs) integrating with Ricoh, Lanier, and Savin hardware and software. The platform provides tiered memberships, development tools, documentation, and support to accelerate third-party integrations.
OPTASY’s approach focused on maintaining the site’s familiar design while modernizing its architecture. The team used a discovery-led audit to plan a seamless upgrade. A custom Migrate API pipeline preserved nodes, users, taxonomy terms, media, and entity references, while ensuring zero content loss and full SEO retention.
Legacy modules were refactored to align with Drupal 11’s standards—implementing typed APIs, PSR-4 autoloading, dependency injection, and PHPUnit testing. The frontend theme was rebuilt using Single Directory Components with WebP images, SCSS architecture, and accessibility features meeting WCAG 2.1 AA standards.
CI/CD pipelines, Composer-managed builds, and cache optimization via BigPipe and CDN enhanced deployment reliability and speed. Performance improved by 40%, and the new admin interface supports WYSIWYG enhancements, better search, and full mobile responsiveness.
