Acolono and Drupal Austria to Host In-Person Drupal 25 Celebration in Vienna

The Drupal project will celebrate its 25th birthday on January 15, 2026, and the Austrian community is marking the occasion with an in-person birthday party in Vienna hosted by Acolono and coordinated by Drupal Austria. The event is scheduled for the evening of the official anniversary and will take place at the Acolono office.

Drupal was first released in January 2001 and has since grown into a powerful open source content management framework used worldwide. To celebrate 25 years of innovation and collaboration, the global Drupal community is organizing a week of online activities running from January 8 to January 15. This distributed approach is designed to make the celebration accessible across time zones and encourages participation from contributors everywhere. Details about the global initiative are available at CelebrateDrupal.org.

The Vienna gathering is a local, in-person event and is distinct from the global online festivities. As described in the official Drupal.org event listing, the evening will offer space for Drupal professionals, contributors, and enthusiasts in Austria to connect, share stories, and toast to 25 years of open source progress. The event will include snacks, drinks, and a casual atmosphere aimed at celebrating the people and community behind the project.

Alongside these events, the community is also invited to participate in creative celebrations related to the recent launch of Drupal CMS. Submissions such as photos, videos, artwork, or other creative expressions shared in the #drupal-cms-launch Slack channel before or during the livestream may be selected to receive limited-edition Drupal CMS swag. This creative challenge is part of the wider anniversary campaign and reflects Drupal’s emphasis on community-driven storytelling and innovation.

With both local and global events planned, the 25th anniversary is not just a celebration of the software but of the community that built and continues to support it. Whether attending the Vienna party or joining virtually, the Drupal community is taking this milestone as a moment to reflect, reconnect, and look ahead.

Note: The vision of this web portal is to help promote news and stories around the Drupal community and promote and celebrate the people and organizations in the community.
