Despite the surprise, given the naming conventions of initiatives like Drupalize.me and Drupal Commerce, the founder complied immediately, completing the rebrand within a day.

Launched as a passion project, the Center began with a focus on recognising Acquia-certified experts, mentors, and contributors who elevated the Drupal community through service and skill. Over time, it evolved into a free, community-backed hub offering best practices, tools, and requests for proposals (RFPs) from institutions including universities, governments, and nonprofits.

The renamed Digital Center of Excellence now aims to reflect the real-world breadth of digital work. Many professionals in the Drupal ecosystem also contribute to WordPress, Symfony, Laravel, DevOps, JavaScript, UX/UI, and digital marketing. The broader identity enables the platform to better support multidisciplinary practitioners, publish more diverse opportunities, and foster a wider expert network—while remaining deeply engaged with Drupal.

The organisation’s goals remain unchanged: highlight excellence, support agencies, publish relevant RFPs, and share best practices that elevate the industry. But with the flexibility to go beyond CMS boundaries, the Digital Center of Excellence is positioned to amplify its impact and reach.
