Drupal Open University Calls for Global Instructors for “Drupal in a Day” Course
Drupal’s Open University initiative is currently seeking instructors from around the world to lead upcoming sessions of its foundational “Drupal in a Day” course. The call was shared by Salim Lakhani, who encouraged interested contributors to connect via the Drupal Slack channel #open-university-initiative.
Part of the broader Drupal Open University initiative, this project aims to bridge Drupal with academic institutions and new learners. First introduced at DrupalCon Europe 2024 in Barcelona, the initiative offers structured, community-supported tracks around courses, teachers, marketing, and contributor outreach.
The “Drupal in a Day” course is a core offering, providing students and new developers with a hands-on introduction to Drupal. Past sessions have seen nearly 100 attendees, including one recently held at DrupalCon Vienna 2025. The goal is to equip newcomers with enough skills to confidently engage with the Drupal ecosystem.
Jean-Paul Vosmeer leads the initiative, with recent instruction by Hilmar Kári Hallbjörnsson and Martin Anderson-Clutz. The team now aims to scale globally by recruiting new instructors to deliver courses across regions.
Contributors can get involved by selecting a track, attending bi-weekly meetings, or volunteering to teach. All participation is community-led and open source, aligned with the mission to grow the next generation of Drupal professionals.
