Efforts Underway to Revive Drupal Meetups in Bengaluru
The Drupal community in Bengaluru is seeing the signs of revival, thanks to an initiative led by Akansha Saxena, AI Integration Marketing Manager at Acquia. After recently moving to the city, Akansha noticed a surprising quiet around Drupal-related activity. Rather than settling for the status quo, she chose to act.
Akansha has reached out directly to local Drupal enthusiasts, calling for a community-driven effort to bring back regular meetups in the city. Her vision is to restart monthly gatherings where developers, contributors, and fans of the platform can reconnect, exchange ideas, and strengthen their network.
She isn't working alone. The DropTimes, a dedicated Drupal-focused publication, has stepped in to support the effort by helping spread the word and generate momentum. But Akansha is clear that this revival won't happen without grassroots involvement.
In a message to the community, Akansha encouraged anyone interested to join the conversation-whether by replying to her post, sharing their experiences from past meetups, or simply introducing themselves. She is especially seeking input from those who have organized Drupal events before or have insights into building a tech community from scratch.
A key part of her approach is building a small but committed team of volunteers. From coordinating speakers and venues to managing communications and logistics, there are many ways to get involved. Akansha also made a special appeal to companies with available meeting spaces to consider hosting a future meetup, reinforcing the importance of collaboration between industry and community.
This initiative isn't just about restarting events. It's about rebuilding a sense of community, purpose, and momentum around Drupal in one of India's most prominent tech cities. Akansha's outreach reflects a strong belief that the strength of open source communities lies in people showing up, pitching in, and sharing ownership.
"This is the very first step," she wrote. "Let's build the team that will build the community."
Those interested in taking part in this project please join this slack group or reach out to Akansha Saxena personally.
