The Drupal Association has announced the opening of the 2025 Drupal Business Survey, inviting agencies and service providers in the Drupal ecosystem to contribute. The survey collects insights on digital market trends, agency performance, and adoption patterns, and is now officially managed by the Drupal Association.
Background
The survey was originally created by Janne Kalliola, Michel Van Velde, and Imre Gmelig Meijling through the Drupal Business Network. While the Association has taken over administration to broaden reach and ensure confidentiality, the original organizers remain active in analyzing anonymized data.
Key Updates for 2025
- Administration: The Drupal Association now runs the survey as its official business research project. Other duplicative business surveys will no longer be supported.
- Timeline: The 2025 edition opened on 19 August and closes on 23 September, aligning with firms' 2026 planning cycles.
- Survey Design: Questions have been refined to strengthen year-over-year trend analysis. Future editions will continue this standardization process to ensure statistical reliability.
2024 Findings Recap
- Hiring: 72% of companies reported adding staff, primarily due to increased project demand.
- Revenue Sources: More than half of reported revenue came from Drupal 9 and 10 projects, highlighting ongoing enterprise reliance.
- Market Sectors: Public sector, education, and nonprofits remained strong. Healthcare showed signs of growth.
- Technology Adoption: Nearly half of respondents indicated current or planned use of AI in client projects.
Community Reporting and Events
Survey findings will be presented at the Drupal Business Dinner on 15 October 2025, followed by a detailed results session on 16 October during DrupalCon Europe in Vienna (14-17 October).
Participation
The survey is open globally to Drupal-focused agencies and service providers. Responses are collected anonymously. Participants can submit until 23 September 2025.
