Free Press Website Rebuilt with Drupal 10 and ActionKit Integration
DevCollaborative rebuilt Free Press’s Drupal 10 site to align with best practices and editorial workflows. The original site was weighed down by custom PHP and poor architecture, limiting maintainability. The rebuild streamlined backend code, standardized modules, and enhanced storytelling flexibility with CKEditor, Paragraphs, and Entity Embed.
Key improvements focused on editor experience and efficiency. A custom Google Docs extension enables exporting clean HTML, reducing content publishing time. The editorial toolkit now includes interactive charts, footnotes, accordions, and timelines, all embedded seamlessly.
The ActionKit integration was fully reworked to retain users within freepress.net and improve mobilization flows. DevCollab also contributed accessibility fixes to Drupal modules, including CKEditor Accordion and Disclosure Menu.
