Maya Schaeffer Secures Victory in 2025 Drupal Association Board Election

The Drupal Association has announced Maya Lynne Schaeffer as the winner of their 2025 Community At-Large Board Elections, securing her position with 269 votes from the 528 ballots cast by community members.

Maya, the Lead of Employee Experience and Community at Evolving Web, emerged victorious from a field of seven candidates in an election that saw solid community participation, with over one-third of the 1,459 eligible voters taking part in the selection process. Under the approval voting system used by the Drupal Association, voters were able to support multiple candidates, making Maya's strong showing particularly noteworthy.

During the election period, Maya outlined her vision in an interview with The DropTimes, stating her commitment to helping Drupal

"grow beyond its current edges by making the project more welcoming to non-technical contributors, easier to access for new users, and more visible to sectors that don't yet realise how much Drupal can offer."

Drawing from her experience organizing EvolveDrupal (now EvolveDigital), Maya emphasized her intention to bring an inclusive, cross-functional approach to the board.

"I'd bring that same mindset to the DA by supporting meaningful events, clearer contribution pathways, and smarter communication that reflects the full diversity of our ecosystem,"

she explained.

The election results bring fresh leadership to the Drupal Association board, with Maya joining newly appointed members Dominique De Cooman and Glenn Hilton.

Dominique De Cooman, Founder and CEO of Dropsolid, who was nominated by Tim Doyle after previously running in last year's elections, expressed his enthusiasm about joining the board. "I didn't run this year in the community elections because it coincided with raising funds for Drupal AI and Dropsolid AI," Dominique explained, noting that both funding rounds are on track with Drupal AI now having 13 organizations providing funding.

Dominique outlined his vision for his board service, emphasizing innovation and collaboration:

"Trying new things like the Drupal AI funding initiative, finding new ways to promote and fund open source and Drupal" and "helping Drupal and its business ecosystem transition through the great agency unbundling."

He also stressed the importance of

"building bridges with other open source ecosystems, together we are stronger."

Glenn Hilton, Founder and CEO of ImageX, brings extensive business leadership experience to the board. Speaking about his passion for Drupal, Glenn noted that

"Drupal offers unparalleled flexibility, meaning the sky's the limit for great design and there's little that it can't do technically." He emphasized his excitement about being "part of growing, thriving community where you can contribute and help continually improve your clients offerings with the most powerful open source solution on the Planet."

This transition marks the end of service for outgoing board members Fei Lauren, Lynne Capozzi, and Rosa Ordinana, whom the association recognized for their dedicated contributions to both the Drupal project and its community.

"We cannot wait to see all the amazing things the new board members will accomplish while on the Drupal Association Board,"

the organization stated in their announcement, expressing enthusiasm for the incoming leadership team.

The Drupal Association extended appreciation to all seven candidates who participated in this year's election, acknowledging the significant commitment required to serve the open-source content management community. Looking ahead, the association has already begun encouraging community members to consider participating in the 2026 elections, continuing the tradition of community-driven governance that has helped shape Drupal's development and growth over the years.
