Drupal 11.1 Features Highlighted in ImageX Blog
Drupal 11.1, the latest minor release following Drupal 11's launch earlier this year, was released on December 16, 2024, introducing a range of enhancements aimed at improving workflows, usability, and performance. A blog post by Nadiia Nykolaichuk, published on the ImageX blog, highlights key features of this release, including the introduction of the Package Manager as an experimental module to simplify module and theme installation and updates via Composer.
Other advancements include the new Workspaces UI module for enhanced content staging, object-oriented hooks using PHP attributes for streamlined development, improved WebP image support, a standardized Icon Management API, and the removal of default body fields in content types for greater flexibility.
The update also includes refined caching mechanisms for faster website performance and upgrades to third-party dependencies such as Symfony, Twig, and CKEditor. Additionally, the redesigned Drupal.org homepage now clearly distinguishes between Drupal core, which powers millions of websites globally, and the upcoming Drupal CMS product, set to launch in January 2025, focusing on user-friendly, pre-configured solutions for non-technical users.
