DrupalCamp Berlin 2024: Featured Speakers and Sessions
DrupalCamp Berlin 2024 is happening on November 8-9 at the historic Alte Münze near Alexanderplatz, bringing together the Drupal community for the first time in Berlin since DrupalCity a decade ago. This event, part of the broader Drupal Week Berlin celebrations, will feature expert-led sessions in both English and German, exploring a range of topics in Drupal development, data analytics, and AI applications. The two-day event is expected to draw developers, project managers, content strategists, and digital professionals from across the region.
Marie Dietz, a certified IAAP CPWA consultant with extensive experience in digital accessibility and web standards, will contribute to the General Meeting of Drupal eV in German, split across two sessions. Marie’s discussions will focus on the Drupal eV association’s efforts to support Drupal’s growth in German-speaking regions, with a specific emphasis on accessibility and inclusive web practices that benefit both developers and end-users.
Julien Hofer, an NLP and data science expert, will address AI in Urban Development – Automated Content & Comment Analysis through a case study from the State Office for Geoinformation and Surveying in Hamburg. This session, presented in either German or English based on the audience’s preference, will showcase how Hamburg integrates Large Language Models within Drupal to manage public feedback and streamline content workflows, ultimately aiming to enhance public engagement and improve service delivery.
Jürgen Haas leads the English session Unleash All Drupal Features: How Ambitious Site Builders Take It to the Next Level with ECA and BPMN. Jürgen’s talk will explore the potential of the ECA (Events, Conditions, Actions) module and the BPMN interface to enable site builders to automate complex workflows, allowing non-technical users to configure Drupal features without writing code. Real-world use cases will illustrate how these tools simplify both development and ongoing site maintenance.
In the session, AI Agents (English), Marcus Johansson will delve into the capabilities of text-to-action agents within Drupal, tools that enable users to interact with Drupal by issuing natural language commands. Johansson will guide attendees through setting up these agents, exploring their functionality, and customizing them to enhance Drupal-based workflows.
Joachim Nickel, a specialist in Matomo analytics and president of the Contao Association, will lead the German session Knowing Instead of Guessing – Why Numbers in Analytics Are Often Wrong. Joachim will tackle common issues in web analytics, focusing on discrepancies between Google Analytics and inventory management data. He’ll outline practical strategies to ensure accurate data tracking and compliance with data protection standards using tools like Matomo and Google Analytics.
