Decoupled Days 2026 Heads to Montréal for Landmark Ninth Edition
Decoupled Days, the non-profit conference focused on modern open-source web development, will take place on 6–7 August 2026 in Montréal, Canada. Hosted at Montréal CoWork, the event marks the first time in its nine-year history that Decoupled Days is being held outside the United States.
Organisers confirmed the relocation following growing concerns from speakers, sponsors, and attendees about travel safety when entering the U.S. In recent editions, these concerns contributed to speaker cancellations and reduced international participation. Community safety and accessibility were cited as the primary factors behind the decision.
After evaluating multiple locations across the Americas, including cities in Canada, the organising team selected Montréal for its accessibility, international outlook, and suitability for a globally distributed community. The move reflects a strategic shift rather than a one-off venue change.
Decoupled Days focuses on headless architectures, API-first development, and modern content platforms. The conference attracts developers, architects, and digital teams working across ecosystems such as Drupal, WordPress, and other open-source frameworks.
Preparations for the 2026 edition are already underway. Early-bird tickets are available, the call for presentations is open until 1 April 2026, and organisers are inviting sponsors and volunteers to support the event.
