Northwest Territories Parks Website Upgraded for Accessibility and Trip Planning

Evolving Web redesigned and upgraded the Northwest Territories Parks website, migrating it to the latest version of Drupal to enhance functionality, user experience, and content management. The Government of the Northwest Territories Parks Division sought to improve trip planning for visitors while reducing staff workload by shifting the website’s focus from categorizing parks by trails to addressing immediate visitor needs. 

The redesign introduced a TailwindCSS-powered theme, an embedded CAMIS reservation system, and a content management system enabling editors to create rich content without developer intervention. A key feature is an interactive map with advanced search and filter capabilities, optimized through usability testing, as well as a color-coded advisory system for real-time updates on seasonal events and emergencies. By improving accessibility, navigation, and information distribution, the website provides a modern, secure interface that supports both local and international visitors while easing the operational burden on the Parks Division’s small digital team.
