Pantheon Releases Public Preview of Google Docs-Based Content Publisher With Free Trial
Pantheon has launched the public preview of Content Publisher, a web content workflow tool that allows users to publish directly from Google Docs to websites built with Drupal, WordPress, or Next.js. The rollout includes a free trial tier and two paid subscription plans.
The platform is designed to streamline publishing workflows by eliminating the need to manually copy and paste content into CMS interfaces. Instead, users can enable a Google Workspace add-on to connect their documents with supported CMS platforms, pushing content to live websites in under three minutes. The system includes built-in governance, compliance, and accessibility checks, as well as AI-generated metadata powered by Google Vertex.
“Website publishing has been complicated and problematic for years,”
said Josh Koenig, co-founder of Pantheon.
“We want to make creating and publishing web content easier for everyone.”
Pantheon reports that over 1 billion people use Google Docs monthly for writing and collaboration. With 90% of web writers working outside their CMS, the company aims to bridge the gap between content creation and deployment using an API-first architecture compatible with any web technology stack.
Earlier this year, The Drop Times covered the initial unveiling of Content Publisher as part of Pantheon’s push to modernize publishing workflows. In an in-depth follow-up, Pantheon execs shared with TDT how the tool was developed to align content, design, and code into a single workflow.
The platform supports open API integration, enabling extensibility beyond CMS defaults. It’s designed to work with existing infrastructure while offering teams greater control over SEO, accessibility, and editorial review processes—all from within Google Docs.
