QED42 introduces Drupal's upcoming Experience Builder, a visual page-building tool designed to simplify layout creation and content structuring. Currently experimental, the module ships with test submodules like xb_dev_standard and xb_test_sdc, requiring configuration changes in settings.php for setup. The UI includes a component library supporting Single Directory Components (SDCs), Drupal blocks, and custom React-based code components, which can be previewed, nested via slots, and reused as patterns. Config entities track usage and compatibility across themes and modules.
A major highlight is AI-assisted functionality, available through the xb_ai submodule and AI Agents module (v1.1). AI can generate code components from prompts or images, assist in page building by leveraging component descriptions, and even create titles and descriptions for XB pages. With global region editing, publishing workflows, and granular permissions, Experience Builder aims to give teams drag-and-drop editing, reusable patterns, and AI-driven workflows when it launches officially at DrupalCon Vienna 2025.
