Japan Forms Committee to Launch Official Drupal Association; DrupalCamp Tokyo 2026 Announced
Amid rising enthusiasm within the Japanese Drupal community, organisers at DrupalCon Nara 2025 announced the formation of a preparatory committee for the Local Drupal Association Japan, with Masami Suzuki appointed as interim chair.
The committee is now working toward establishing the association as a registered non-profit organisation by spring 2026. This effort represents a landmark step for Drupal adoption in Japan, aiming to formalise collaboration among developers, digital agencies, and enterprise users across the country.
The Local Drupal Association Japan is expected to provide a structured platform for promoting Drupal through education, events, and advocacy, aligning with models seen in other active regional associations worldwide. As interest in Drupal grows among Japanese technology companies, the new organisation seeks to channel that momentum into community-driven development and participation in global open-source initiatives.
Coinciding with these developments, DrupalCamp Tokyo has been announced for June 27, 2026. The event is set to offer local and international attendees a platform for networking, knowledge exchange, and showcasing Drupal’s use cases in the Asia-Pacific region. With the formalisation of a national association and the return of a dedicated camp, Japan is positioning itself as a more prominent node in the global Drupal network.
