Drupal Cloud POC Adds Next.js Integration and Starter Tools
Jay Callicott has shared a major update on the ongoing development of the Drupal Cloud proof of concept (POC), revealing improved user experience features and a fully integrated starter setup aimed at simplifying Drupal-based application deployment.
The latest demo highlights a streamlined end-to-end development flow featuring a preconfigured Drupal composer template and a Next.js starter. Together, they allow developers to spin up a Drupal "Space," apply environment configurations to a Next.js frontend, and quickly build dynamic sites. The current implementation includes a live articles page that fetches and displays content from Drupal, with additional functionality under development.
Designed for developers seeking robust content modeling without the overhead of complex back-end infrastructure, the Drupal Cloud platform emphasizes ease of setup, maintenance-free hosting, and simplified content storage.
GitHub and Google integrations have also been successfully implemented. Hosting preparations are underway, with a private beta planned.
