Swiss Drupal AI Hackathon Set for September 11 in Zurich
A hands-on AI hackathon tailored for Drupal developers is scheduled to take place in Zurich on September 11, 2025. As part of Swiss AI Weeks, the Swiss Drupal AI Hackathon invites technologists to push the limits of what open-source AI can do in the Drupal ecosystem. Hosted at Liip and running from 13:00 to 18:00 CEST, the event promises an afternoon of fast-paced coding, creative prototyping, and community-driven innovation.
Participants will work with new open-source LLMs, including the Swiss AI Initiative model developed in partnership with ETH and EPFL, and use the Drupal AI module to prototype tools and concepts related to personalisation, automation, and more. Whether attendees are ready to build fully functional tools or just experiment with new ideas, all levels of contribution are welcome.
The event is open to backend, frontend, and full-stack Drupal developers, as well as technologists with no prior experience in AI. Individuals can register alone or as part of a team, and solo participants will be grouped into teams at the event. Attendance is limited to 30 people.
To make participation as smooth as possible, development environments will be pre-configured and powered by amazee.io. No DevOps setup is required. As the organisers emphasise, come with your laptop, and you’ll be ready to code in minutes. Mentorship and technical support will be provided by experts from Amazee Labs, amazee.io, and Liip.
The schedule kicks off at 13:00 with welcome remarks and team formation. Hacking begins at 13:45, followed by demos at 17:00. At 17:45, a jury of AI and Drupal experts will award prizes based on three criteria: innovation, technical execution, and relevance to the Drupal ecosystem. The event will conclude with an apéro featuring food, drinks, and networking opportunities.
