DrupalX Now Powered by Drupal 11: Major Upgrade for Standard and Decoupled Versions
The DrupalX project has officially upgraded to Drupal 11, aligning both its standard and decoupled starter kits with the latest version of the Drupal core. This update strengthens DrupalX’s position as a modern development framework for building scalable, customizable content platforms.
The upgrade affects both flavours of the project: DrupalXS, the standard version tailored for traditional site building, and DrupalXD, the decoupled version designed for headless architectures. With Drupal 11 now at its core, DrupalX benefits from improved performance, enhanced security, and expanded support for modern web development tools.
DrupalXD, the decoupled starter kit, continues to offer a robust integration with GraphQL and is bundled with a Next.js frontend starter. It provides a streamlined content editing experience and is geared toward developers building fully decoupled applications. The distribution is built on top of the DrupalX Decoupled framework and is designed to work seamlessly with DDEV, a local development environment that simplifies configuration and setup.
Meanwhile, DrupalXS, the standard version of the template, also benefits from the Drupal 11 upgrade. It includes enhancements to editorial workflows, improved theme customization via the DrupalX Theme Starter, and expanded support for layout-building through reusable paragraph types. Like its decoupled counterpart, it is Composer-based and leverages DDEV for efficient local development.
Both versions extend the widely used Drupal-Composer/drupal-project template and include additional contributed modules to provide a comprehensive starting point for custom site development. The projects remain open source under the GPL v2 license.
