DrupalCon Vienna 2025 Opens Inclusion Fund and Scholarship Applications
As DrupalCon Vienna approaches—scheduled for 14–17 October 2025—organizers have opened applications for the Grants, Scholarships, and Inclusion Funds, beginning 05th of May 2025, aiming to remove financial barriers and broaden access to the event. The initiative, run in partnership with the Drupal Association and Kuoni Tumlare | Congress, reflects an ongoing commitment to inclusivity within the global open source community.
The funding supports individuals who contribute to Drupal, are active in the community, or are early in their open-source journey but face financial challenges that make attending DrupalCon difficult. The support package includes a free DrupalCon Vienna ticket and travel assistance ranging from €800 to €1250. Applications are open until 23 June 2025, and selected recipients will be notified on 14 July 2025.
Part of the program includes Inclusion Scholarships, specifically intended for individuals from historically underrepresented or marginalised communities in tech. This includes women (cisgender, transgender, and non-binary), intersex people, people of colour, immigrants and refugees, and disabled individuals. These scholarships offer a free DrupalCon ticket and a €1250 travel stipend, enabling more equitable participation in open-source collaboration.
All applications will be reviewed by a diverse, international group of community members—not the fund administrators—to ensure a fair and representative selection process. The review team changes for every DrupalCon, helping keep the process grounded in community perspectives.
Organisers emphasise that receiving funding comes with responsibilities. Awardees are expected to meet deadlines, follow travel guidance, and confirm attendance in advance, ensuring that the community’s resources are used thoughtfully and effectively.
DrupalCon’s funding program is rooted in the belief that everyone has something valuable to bring to open source. With this initiative, the Drupal community continues its work toward a more inclusive and representative future.
