DrupalCon Barcelona 2024: Keynote Speakers Unveil Innovations and Insights
Barcelona is set to host DrupalCon 2024 from September 24 to 27 at the Barcelona International Convention Center (CCIB). The event, a significant gathering in the world of open-source web publishing, will feature a lineup of influential keynote speakers who are expected to share groundbreaking insights and developments in their respective fields.
On Tuesday, September 24 at 13:45 CEST, Dries Buytaert, the founder and Lead of Drupal, will deliver the much-anticipated "Driesnote." As this marks his 40th keynote, Dries will provide a comprehensive update on the State of Drupal and unveil new details about the Drupal Starshot initiative, which began at DrupalCon Portland. Attendees can expect an in-depth product strategy, a demo of the initial Drupal Starshot launch, and insights on getting involved in this pioneering project.
The following day, on Wednesday, September 25, at 10:00 CEST, Barcelona-based electronic artist Mónica Rikić will present her keynote, "Coding beyond functionality. Altering technologies through artistic research." Mónica, known for her innovative work that blends technology and philosophy, will discuss her recent project on assistive robotics and the role of creative coding in driving technological advancements. She will also explore alternative creative spaces where technology is reimagined through playful experimentation.
Later on Wednesday, September 25 at 14:30 CEST, cybersecurity expert Theódór Ragnar Gíslason, CTO of Syndis and founder of "Defend Iceland," will take the stage. His keynote, "Building Safer Digital Communities," will delve into the impact of community-driven cybersecurity initiatives. Theódór will share his personal journey and highlight the significance of ethical hacking communities in safeguarding digital spaces, drawing on his experience with the successful "Defend Iceland" bug bounty platform.
DrupalCon will conclude its keynotes on Thursday, September 26, at 11:45 CEST with a session led by the Drupal Core Initiative Leads. This keynote will feature leaders from various Drupal initiatives who will discuss their ongoing projects, challenges, and ways for the community to contribute.
