DrupalCon Nara 2025 Launches First-Ever Citywide Treasure Hunt

DrupalCon Nara 2025 will debut a unique Treasure Hunt on Sunday, 16 November, inviting teams to explore the historic city through challenges that combine Drupal knowledge with cultural discovery.

Running from 11am to 3pm, the event tasks teams of up to three with navigating Nara’s landmarks, completing creative quests, and collecting points toward prizes. Participation is open to all, though each team must include at least one DrupalCon Nara ticket holder. Friends or family members are welcome to join registered attendees as teammates.

Challenges fall into three categories: Checkpoints (location-based), Challenges (interactive tasks), and Trivia (Drupal and local knowledge). Difficulty and distance determine point value, requiring teams to plan strategic routes. Officials will stamp scorecards for completed quests, and final tallies must be submitted before the 3pm deadline.

Registration costs AUD $30 per person and includes a race bib, participation badge, and a welcome bag featuring local gifts. Organizers emphasize accessibility and fair play, with public transport and mobility aids permitted, but private transport and splitting up prohibited.

Safety, inclusivity, and respect for Nara’s sacred deer are core rules. Participants must adhere to all traffic laws, event guidelines, and the DrupalCon Code of Conduct. The event offers a lively, community-driven start to DrupalCon Nara, blending fun with cultural appreciation.
