GraphQL 5.0.0-alpha3 for Drupal Released with PHP Attribute Refactoring

Klaus Purer, Principal Engineer at Jobiqo, has released GraphQL 5.0.0-alpha3 for Drupal, focusing on modernizing the codebase and fixing key issues. This update refactors plugin definitions to use PHP attributes and resolves 13 issues. It supports Drupal 10.4 and 11.

Key fixes include improved type casting for getDescription() and getCreatedTime(), better support for deferred arguments in data producers, and removal of deprecated theme implementations. Global \Drupal calls have been replaced with dependency injection, and test coverage now supports Drupal 11.3.x.

Attribute support has been added across all plugin managers, and a new schema plugin helper improves configuration handling. Klaus thanked contributors Daniel Bosen, Alistair Munnings, Andrii Aleksandrov, and Ben Stallings for their contributions.

Install via Composer:

composer require 'drupal/graphql:^5.0@alpha'
