Jürgen Haas announced the public availability of beta releases for three major components in the Drupal ecosystem: ECA 3, Modeler API 1, and BPMN.iO 3. These releases mark significant progress in Drupal’s workflow and automation capabilities, with contributions from dozens of developers across the open-source community.
ECA 3 Beta
The ECA (Event-Condition-Action) module—core to Drupal’s no-code automation—reached its third major version with contributions from 18 developers and resolution of 75 tracked issues. The update introduces improved logic handling, a redesigned interface, and expanded compatibility with other modules. Release notes are available here.
Modeler API 1 Beta
This foundational API, supporting visual workflow modeling, is now in its first standalone beta release. With input from 4 contributors and 64 resolved issues, the Modeler API provides a backend framework to support drag-and-drop interfaces and other modeling tools. Full changelog here.
BPMN.iO 3 Beta
An upgrade to the Drupal integration of the BPMN.iO modeling tool, version 3, brings a cleaner user interface, better performance, and expanded diagram features. 10 contributors participated, closing 28 issues. Details are available here.
All three betas feature an overhauled UI, shown in newly released screenshots in both light and dark modes. An upgrade path from ECA 2 is documented, and users are encouraged to review migration steps before adopting the new versions.
