Open Source Advocates Celebrates 25 Years of Drupal and Wikipedia in Thiruvananthapuram
The DrupalTVM User Group, Wikimedians of Kerala User Group, and FSUG TVM will come together in Thiruvananthapuram on January 15, 2026, to mark 25 years of Drupal and Wikipedia through a community-led celebration at the International Centre for Free and Open Source Software (ICFOSS), Karyavattom.
The event aims to mobilise developers, contributors, students, and open-knowledge advocates around the shared values of collaboration, openness, and community ownership that have defined both Drupal and Wikipedia for a quarter century. Organisers see the celebration as an opportunity to strengthen local participation in global open-source and free-knowledge movements while encouraging new contributors to get involved.
QED42 is the title sponsor for the event, underscoring its continued commitment to the Drupal ecosystem and open-source development. Supporting sponsors include Zyxware Technologies, Factorial, and Power CMS, reflecting broad industry support for community-driven technology initiatives.
The programme features Sunil T T, Director of ICFOSS, delivering the presidential address. Sebin Jacob, Editor-in-Chief, The DropTimes will lead a session on Drupal’s evolution and future direction, while Mujeeb Rahman, representing Wikimedians of Kerala, will speak on Wikipedia’s 25-year journey and its impact on free access to knowledge. New community initiatives will also be launched, with Anish Anilkumar introducing “Drupal in a Day” and Kala Jayan presenting “Wiki Loves Drupal,” both designed to onboard contributors and strengthen collaboration between developer and knowledge communities.
The celebration aims to strengthen ties between open-source and open-knowledge communities in Kerala while reaffirming shared values of openness, participation, and collaboration.
