FOSSBackstage 2025: A Deep Dive into Open Source Management
FOSS Backstage 2025, a premier conference focusing on the non-technical facets of Free and Open-Source Software (FOSS), is scheduled for March 10 and 11 at bUm—Raum für solidarisches Miteinander in Berlin's Kreuzberg district. This seventh edition aims to unite open-source practitioners, community leaders, and decision-makers to discuss governance, compliance, and community management.
The two-day event will feature 45 curated talks, two panel discussions, and two workshops addressing topics such as legal frameworks, diversity, security, and design within open-source ecosystems. A Lightning Talk session, offering participants five-minute slots to present topics of their choice, is also planned for March 10.
Accessibility is a priority, with the venue being fully wheelchair accessible and on-site assistance available. Attendees are encouraged to use public transportation or cycling to reach the venue. Fringe events include FOSS Backstage Design on March 12, focusing on UX and Design in FOSS, and the FOSS eGov Breakfast on March 11, aimed at professionals involved in digitizing public administration.
Tickets are available for both on-site and online participation, with the latter providing access to live streams and interactive Q&A sessions. Food and beverages, including vegetarian and vegan options, will be provided throughout the conference, thanks to sponsors like SearchGuard.
