Frank Holldorff (fholldorff)

Frank Holldorff is co-founder of erdfisch, a Drupal agency based in Heidelberg that has worked exclusively with Drupal since 2005. With a focus on the DACH region, erdfisch specialises in long-term partnerships, complex multisite architectures, and digital sovereignty.

Frank advocates for sustainable Drupal: not quick wins, but durable solutions that support organisational independence. He is particularly interested in compliance and data sovereignty in the European context, including GDPR, NIS2, and the Digital Services Act, and in how Drupal can enable both security and operational freedom.

At erdfisch, Frank is leading the transformation from a traditional agency model towards strategic consulting. Since November 2024, he has served as chairman of Drupal e.V., the German Drupal community association, where he works to strengthen the visibility and growth of Drupal across the DACH region. He is deeply committed to open source as a way to build real communities, not as a marketing instrument.

Frank is currently working on AI integration in Drupal and on organisational transformation as part of the Master Business with AI (MBAI) programme at Leaders of AI. His focus is on understanding how to design AI-powered workflows responsibly and in compliance with the EU AI Act.

Beyond technical work, Frank is interested in how organisations can avoid vendor lock-in, build trust with technology partners, and make long-term strategic decisions rather than chasing short-term trends.

erdfisch has recently launched nerdfisch – DevBits, a collection of small code snippets and practical solutions drawn from daily Drupal work.

The initiative grew out of erdfisch’s internal knowledge-sharing practices in a fully remote team. The aim is to document real problems and real solutions from real projects, without turning them into polished tutorials or marketing content.
